The Greenovation Of Terra VerdeThe Greenovation of Terra Verde is a project of love spearheaded by health expert and TV personality Dr. Anna Marie Chwastiak. Dr. Anna Marie found the failing abandoned horse property while filming her Forecast for Health reports for
The Weather Channel. The 22 acre energy draining horse farm, which was stuck in the 1970's, is located right next to the Ocala National Forest in Umatilla, Florida. Inspired by the land, her passion for horses and the concept of green living-Dr. Anna Marie and her Greenovation team not only give Terra Verde a facelift but transform it into an energy efficient, sustainable and healthy home!

Insulation Investigation
In the 1970's, an air gap was considered insulation. Problem is, if it's hot air and you're trying to cool it-it's harder. The opposite is true-if it's a cold air space and you're trying to warm it. Here on Terra Verde-the challenge was mostly in the attic space and because we're in Central Florida, it's more of a cooling issue than warming. The solution was to seal and insulate the attic thereby reducing the attic temperature, resulting in an ideal environment for the insulated duct work-this significantly reduced the work load on the mechanics of Terra Verde. Renew, Recycle and Rewrap
One of the first steps we took with our Greenovation project was to evaluate the Terra Verde Project home to see if we could expand the home's footprint by removing (and recycling) over 500 concrete blocks. Next step was to update the original 1970 winders to keep the cool air in and the warm air out. The original windows were single pane aluminum windows. Aluminum windows are not considered energy efficient or green for that matter. The FAS Windows and Doors team installed Simonton Vinyl Windows and Sliding Glass Doors with a low E 366. Low E366 glass blocks 95-percent of the suns damaging UV rays as well as reduces heat gain by 64-percent when compared to other glass. There was a tremendous drop in our energy usage once the vinyl windows were installed. |

Greenovation Of Terra Verde-Meet The Team
The Greenovation of Terra Verde Project sits next to the Ocala National Forest in Marion County, Florida. The 40 year old horse farm, which was stuck in the 70's, was abandoned for about ten years. On this segment, Dr. Anna Marie introduces you to the team that is going to help her bring her green dream to life! For more information on our team, check out their bios below.
